Afternoon Assistant Pre-K Teacher (Part-Time)

Location: Hillside Academy, Duvall WA

Hours: Monday – Friday, estimated to be 11:00 or 12:00 to 3:15 PM (Aligns with the 190-day academic school year)

Pay Rate: $22.00 – $26.00 per hour (Depending on experience)

Class Size: Low ratio

About the Role

Are you looking for a rewarding teaching role that fits perfectly around morning college classes, family commitments, or creative pursuits? We are looking for a reliable, enthusiastic Assistant Pre-K Teacher to join our tight-knit team for the school year.

Unlike large child care centers, our classroom caps enrollment at just 10 students (ages 3–5) per lead teacher. You will cover the Lead Teacher’s breaks, supervise recesses and work collaboratively with the Lead Teacher for the rest of the day through quiet time, afternoon snacks, and creative activities.

Daily Responsibilities

  • Independently supervise our 8-10 students during parts of the day.
  • Team up with our Lead Teacher to manage transitions, facilitate a fun 60-minute outdoor gross-motor block, serve afternoon snacks, and run creative tabletop centers.
  • Maintain a safe, joyful, and clean classroom environment following WA state licensing guidelines (WAC).
  • Provide a warm, supportive environment that fosters social-emotional growth and independence.

What We Offer

  • Competitive Pay: $22.00 – $26.00/hr in a stable, part-time role.
  • Low-Stress Environment: A low ratio means you can focus on building meaningful connections with kids rather than managing chaos.
  • Predictable Schedule: Monday through Friday afternoons only—no early mornings, no weekends, and off for the summer (although summer work may be available if interested).

Requirements (WA State Licensing / WAC Compliant)

  • Must be 18 years of age or older with a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to pass a DCYF Portable Background Check and provide a negative TB test before starting.
  • Current CPR/First Aid, Food Handler’s Permit, and Bloodborne Pathogens certifications (or willingness to obtain them immediately upon hire—we can assist!).
  • Completion of (or willingness to take) the 30-hour Child Care Basics (CCB) training course before beginning employment.
  • An interest in or background in Early Childhood Education (ECE) is a major plus!
