Job Description
The Middle School Humanities Teacher is a passionate educator who empowers each student to grow and meet their full potential. Working in collaboration with partner teachers, the Middle School Humanities Teacher designs and implements a rigorous instructional program, using both direct instruction and a project-based learning approach in a learning environment which nurtures and develops the socio-emotional intelligence and capacity of their students. Responsibilities
- Teach English Language Arts and Social Studies while integrating project-based learning and utilizing STEAM curriculum, as appropriate.
- Develop lesson plans and instructional strategies/materials, provide individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student.
- Recognize individual student learning needs and develop strategies to address those needs for the purpose of promoting student growth and achievement.
- Establish and maintain standards of student behavior and citizenship to achieve a safe and respectful learning environment.
- Evaluate students’ academic and social needs and growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress reports.
- Build rapport and communicate with parents through conferences, weekly emails/newsletters reflecting students’ progress.
- Provide a faith component as outlined by school director/board.
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to promote a positive and effective learning environment.
- Maintain professional competencies and expectations by attending in-service education/training, staff meetings/retreats as outlined in school calendar and teacher annual contract.
- Maintain confidentiality of students and families.
- Additional responsibilities as outlined by the school calendar and/or individual contract.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of subject matter/course content and resources relevant to assignment
- Experience using effective instructional and assessment strategies and practices
- Ability to use the provided technology
- Understanding of project-based learning
Required
- Washington State background check and fingerprint clearance and all other statements and disclosures in accordance with state law are required prior to employment
- Upon hire or before, must earn certification in CPR and First Aid and all other statements and disclosures in accordance with state law
- Teaching certification strongly preferred
Salary
.5 - .75 FTE
Job Types: Part-time, Contract
Pay: $26.00 - $30.00 per hour

K-5 Extended Program Leader
The Extended Program Leader is responsible for maintaining a safe, engaging, and fun environment for children in kindergarten through 5th grade. The Program Leader is responsible for coming up with creative and educational activities, preparing and serving snacks, maintaining a clean environment for the children, and corresponding and communicating with staff and parents while working with administrators to implement school policies, procedures, and foster a joyful, inclusive culture.
Responsibilities
- Write program plans (support can be provided for those with less experience) to include games, crafts, field trips, and special events
- Implement program plans
- Maintain standards of student behavior and citizenship to achieve a functional, safe and respectful learning atmosphere.
- Attend training program(s) for the staff
- Effectively supervise, coach, and mentor children
- Build rapport and communicate with parents according to school standards to share insight about students’ participation in the program
- Work with Registrar to maintain current student records
- Maintain confidentiality of students and families.
- Assist with the evaluation of the program
- Additional responsibilities as outlined by the school calendar and/or individual contract
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
- Understand the principles, philosophy, and practices of recreation administration (e.g., program planning, leadership, risk management, budgeting, and public relations)
- Experience in executing activities and special events
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
- Ability to lead and individually work to accomplish goals
- Ability to operate the technology used and use the available hardware and software
Qualifications
- Must be 18 years old
- Must have prior experience working with school aged children
- Must have ability to effectively communicate with with all stakeholders

Schedule
The hours are 7:00 am to 8:30 am and 3:45 pm to 6:00 pm, Monday - Friday. It may be possible to work only am or only pm hours.
Hourly Wage
$18-22 for Program Assistants, $22-25 for Program Leaders
