What a fun night! I’m not sure there is anything quite as thrilling as seeing a room full of excited students actively sharing their learning with others. After Hillside’s Navigation & Exploration Expo, as I drove back to drop off the last of the trifolds and supplies, I was thinking about the power of Public Audience. I thought to myself, “Would students connect with this material in the same way if they did all the same projects, but they never had an opportunity to share it with others? Of course not!”
You could see it in their faces and hear it in their voices. They were proud of the hard work they had put in and they couldn’t wait to share it with others. If their papers were written and then filed away, the students would have never thought of them again. If the clothing was designed, but no one shared in the creativity of their ideas, they would have shoved their designs in the back of their closets and forgotten about them. If their songs were written, but never performed, no one would know how talented they are.The learning comes alive when they have the opportunity to share it with others! I don’t think you will forget the things you have learned this quarter. Well done Hillside students. Your hard work, creativity, collaboration, and presentation really paid off. First Quarter Expo down, only 3 to go!
