Our kindergarten class has started their first Project Lead the Way’s STEM program this month. The focus of this first project is on Structures and Functions. In this quarter, the students will utilize the disciplines of science, technology, engineering and math to design and create structures that are both creative and sound.
As an introduction to project based learning, students were given the task to create a structure using only marshmallows and toothpicks. Their structures had to be as tall as possible while still being structurally sound. Gravity may have tested their designs, but not their patience and persistence…
Our kindergarten students are looking forward to participating and demonstrating what they have learned at Hillside’s EXPO later this year. Please be sure to come and see what they have done.
