Thank you to all who attended Hillside’s Christmas show last month. We hope you enjoyed seeing all of our students performing on stage. Your appreciation and support was very much appreciated not only by our students but also by those who worked so hard behind the scenes to make it happen!
This year’s Christmas show was focused on the “Fruit of the Spirit” including; Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, and Self-Control. I wanted to provide a little insight into how the show came together and how we were able to integrate the production as part of our performing arts curriculum.
Our middle school students were divided into small groups and tasked with creating a short skit about their assigned Fruit the Spirit to introduce the upcoming class who then sang a related song. Ms. Sarah, our music teacher, selected the songs and practiced with the students. Ms. Tara and the set design students designed and created all of the sets used for each scene. Ms. Nisha worked with each class to add movement and dance for each their songs. Lastly, our theater students and teachers worked with all the students to memorize their songs and lines.
The greatest joy is when students, teachers, families, and friends get together to celebrate the true meaning of Christmas and the cookies are not too bad either!
