This week, we kick off our giving campaigns. Allow me to identify a few ways in which the Hillside community requests your involvement…
The Annual Fund is a separate, yet very important income source for Hillside Academy and provides necessary funding for programs and services not fully covered by tuition. This season’s Annual Fund campaign has a goal of $80,000.
We kindly ask that all Wildcat families consider a contribution – whatever you feel moved to give. Donations are accepted via check, credit card or online at http://hillsideacademy.com/fund-raising/donate-now/.
Please consider corporate matching funds to further the reach and impact of your gifts.
Additionally, during the next few months, Hillside will be actively engaged in serving and giving to the community in various ways. More information coming soon.
Again, this year, our school will be joining together to provide gifts to one or more local families via the Giving Tree. Our Giving Tree will be set up in the school office (main Hillside building) and will have tags with various items for children and parents. Families will purchase items, wrap them and bring to the Christmas Program on December 14 at Riverview School District. Further details coming Friday this week.
Another area for extending your impact is Hillside’s Tech Fund. During the past couple months, the tech committee has been meeting and examining the infrastructure for internet connections throughout the school. In addition to the 40 new Bak Atlas laptops provided through the Tech Fund a couple months ago, The committee is in process of identifying ongoing issues that are affecting connectivity and are devising a needs assessment to prioritize equipment and network needs. Teacher laptops (12) support staff computers (11), one desktop computer and several iPads are on the ‘vitally needed’ list.
While serving the community, giving to those in need and building a stronger financial situation for Hillside, we want to acknowledge and thank each parent, grandparent, teacher, specialist, volunteer and student for what you do and give to advance the mission.
During the upcoming weeks leading into the New Year, I will be sharing stories from current students and parents whose lives have been impacted and why they choose to invest in the mission of Hillside Academy. The first testimony comes from my daughter, Rylee, who chose to attend Hillside rather than stay at Bellevue Christian School (where she attended since preschool)…
Hello Hillside Academy families! One of the things I am thankful for is Hillside. Coming from another private, Christian school, I had a lot of anxiety that was making me feel stuck. I felt like there was no solution for this stuck feeling. But then my dad got the job as the new director here, and I didn’t know what to feel. I was so happy for him, but this meant change, and a lot of it. I don’t do well with change, so I spent most of this summer worrying about feeling welcome, making friends, and being accepted as a so called “new kid.” I began to get very anxious for the change, but I also hoped to feel, “unstuck.”
I am so happy this change happened. I couldn’t be more excited for the rest of the year. Because of my anxiety last year, I struggled with self-confidence, school, grades, and constantly comparing myself to others. This has changed. I mean, it’s not like I woke up one day and BAM no anxiety, comparison, or bad grades. I still struggle with anxiety and confidence, but it has gotten much better. I cannot help but say this is because of Hillside and the learning environment that the teachers and students create for me.
I am thankful to be a part of Hillside!
Rylee, Grade 7
Rylee and I, like you, have chosen to be at Hillside and are on a journey of discovering the hidden treasures of God – Christ, the world and specific paths before us. We are thankful for the fresh start, new challenges and many opportunities to passionately pursue learning, innovation and faith. We will be contributing to the annual fund and tech fund and ask each family to join us in taking Hillside to the next level.
With thanks and celebration – through giving,
